Katy Lyons – APL Health’s National Teacher of the Year 2017
Deputy Head of Mrs Ethelson’s C of E Primary School Katy Lyons sweeps the inaugural APL Health National Teacher of the Year.
To celebrate World Teacher’s Day, education specific occupational health provider APL Health have introduced a national award to celebrate teaching staff up and down the country who consistently do amazing work, striving to offer their students the best education possible and support their colleagues in any way they can.
After receiving many nominations, from friends and colleagues of these fantastic individuals, the judging panel assessed all entrants against a range of criteria including the service they provide to students, the care and support they offer their colleagues and the focus they place on the culture and quality of their school.
Katy Lyons won the award after her colleagues put together a heartfelt entry, that shows how she takes responsibility for the wellbeing and professional development of all the staff around her, continually offering support, and offering her school her full dedication and commitment. She clearly believes in the students who attend Mrs Ethelston’s School, and works tirelessly with her Year Six class to ensure they reach their potential.
Katy was described by her colleagues as ‘an extraordinary human being’, ‘truly awesome’ and with ‘an unlimited capacity for love and kindness’.
Harry Cramer, Managing Director of APL Health said “As a deserved winner, and hugely impressive member of the community, it’s fantastic to be able to recognise Katy, and offer her something small in return for her hard work. Everyone at APL Health would like to say a big thank you to you Katy, and everyone else like you who work tirelessly to make schools and academies a better place. We hope you enjoy your hamper!”
